CIMB fake email

I been getting a few recently and this is the latest one:

So how do one check if it is fake or not? well most of the bank has already inform all their client that they will never send an email asking for password update, profile update, or what ever now days. But I do believe most of the victim only learn their lesson after getting scammed by it. Plus when one receive such email they just get panic haha

Anyway the basic step to identify if it is a fake mail or not is by looking at the URL Address. You notice the “here” is blue color which means it is a shortcut link to the fake update page. If you right click on it and copy the hyperlink shortcut or copy url depending on your email client or browser. You have few option of copying the URL address, as for this one the address be looking like this:

http://www.how-to-repair-cars.com/wp-content/plugins/cimb.services/ibk/wps/portal/ibk.html

If you notice… how-to-repair-cars.com don’t really look like it is from CIMB bank, so would you continue on updating your bank profile details? If yes then good luck. Also if you were searching for a CIMB bank and somehow google found this blog. THIS IS NOT CIMB BANK lol

If any of you ever receive such email, kindly report it to the police or report it as spam. Because my friend just lost his money after logging in with his username and password.

Here are some stuff that you should make sure about banks:

• Bank will never use a email to send you any important notification, they will give you a call directly and ask you to come over the bank
• Even if you receive something in black & white, it could be a scam unless they are asking you to come over the bank to settle it and not over the phone or email.
• Please take note about the email address use and also the URL of the website being refer too, this really helps a lot.
