XDA Forum is moving away from GoDaddy

Majority mobile hacking geek would know what forum am I talking about, then again just for a short brief;

Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xda-developers
"xda-developers is a community of over 4 million users worldwide, started in 2003.[2] The site's main purpose is discussion of Windows Phone, Android, and WebOS phones. The site also offers Windows Mobile and Android users general information about devices, ROM upgrades, technical support, Q&A, and reviews of device applications and accessories”

Because of the recent activities from “Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA)” XDA communities have decided to move away from GoDaddy Hosting company. Go Daddy Group which fully support SOPA would put site like XDA at risk of being shut down or XDA would be forced to switch to a review system, where the forum moderators would have to inspect and approve every post on every sub-forum. XDA admins and moderator of XDA forum communities decided to go ahead with such plan after a long debate among themselves.

This is what they said:
"We had a long debate among admins and moderators about the best way XDA can combat this legislation. Several sites (most notably, Reddit) have decided to go dark on January 18th from 8AM to 8PM. A blackout of XDA, a site with users likely already educated on the legislation, seemed a bit like preaching to the choir.

Quite frankly, we don’t think a blackout is enough. We need to motivate XDA members to get involved and help us fight the fight. So– beginning at 8AM ET on January 18th, the xda-developers.com domain WILL go dark. When you come to the site, you will see links to information about SOPA and the damaging impact it will have on the free Internet. Visitors from the United States will also see a link to an online pledge. Users who choose to sign their name to the pledge are agreeing simply to contact their local Senator or Representative (via phone or email) and politely voice their opposition to the bills. Once 50,000 people have made the pledge, XDA will go back up. We will provide links to help you find the contact information for the appropriate member of Congress. We hope we hit 50,000 pledges quickly. If not, we’ll match Reddit (and hopefully many other sites) and return online at 8PM ET.”

For U.S citizen who wish to participate in the protest, you can head to Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF). EFF have created a page for how you can do your part to oppose this legislation that would allow the US to firewall content from their own citizens.

Social network users now easy targets for criminals?

“PETALING JAYA: Forget about bringing criminals to book, the crooks are themselves going to the book – Facebook, that is.

Many are targeting Malaysians – via their personal details posted on Facebook.

They are lifting information such as addresses, telephone numbers and even photographs for crimes ranging from drug trafficking to blackmail and sexual harassment.” Read More…

“PETALING JAYA: Crooks are cashing in on personal details readily revealed by some Facebook users and using them in identity frauds, blackmail or to “steal” money from users.

Over-excited online social network users who reveal personal information and accept “friendship” requests from complete strangers have made the site an increasingly popular target for cybercriminals.” Read More…

Was wondering how did those people easily manage to access people email account just by the facebook detail of that person. I have tried it on most of the people I know email and found out most of them would use questions like "Where was my mother born" or maybe "what is my first pet name?" this if it is yahoo or hotmail. If it was Gmail... you can forget about trying to even recover yourself.

So like I said who would post details about where their mom was born or maybe what was their first pet name on their profile? I tried like few days now since it was on the news and found non among my friends or people I email to have posted most of the details for their security password on their facebook or friendster profile. So that would be good news to most of you lol, then again as for me.. er.. hm.. isp mail can be easily recovered? lol

I got a few email which I use regularly and yes a FEWWWW I don’t know why but I think now I got like 6 emails? including a new gmail address which I just registered for near future use. Then again I always download the mails and no I don’t have any nude picture of myself or any of my friends nude picture. I do have some porn pictures then again that would not be good enough to blackmail me hahahaha.

Anyway just want to say it is not impossible to get all the details now days since most people take things for granted and just post every little details of themselves. That is where you see your picture getting posted on sites like GutterUncensored (if you are a girl and hot too lol). So I would say the internet is a scary place. So before you post or update anything on your profile or blog, double check and make sure it has nothing to do with your main account details for the password recover thing.

6.20 TN-A / Homebrew Enabler (HEN) Released - psp-hacks

Well the latest homebrew enabler is out for psp firmware version 6.20. So what can you do? well here are the details:

"Now you can’t play any ISOs/CSOs just yet — you gotta wait for that. Someone’ll port an existing ISO loader or create a new one compatible with 6.20. Otherwise check the included readme.txt for everything else you oughta know.
6.20 TN-A (HEN) Requirements
 • A PSP – any model – with firmware 6.20 installed.
6.20 TN-A (HEN) Instructions
 1. Install Patapon Demo & HBL on your PSP.
 2. Extract EBOOT.PBP to /PSP/GAME/HEN/EBOOT.PBP, or to /HBL/GAME/EBOOT.PBP if you want to launch it directly.
 3. Launch Patapon Demo and load exploited savedata (Continue).
 4. Now it jumps into HEN mode.
 5. Enjoy homebrews and plugins (you’ll lose HEN mode if you reset/shutdown the device or if your PSP crashes).
Update: A couple notes from my personal experience with 6.20 TN-A (HEN) and a PSPgo: The first run it worked fine — HEN loaded no problem and behaved as it should. Consecutive runs thereafter (from a cold boot) always failed. To get it working again I uncommented the following line in hbl/hbl_config.txt:
override_sceIoMkdir=-1
Works again! … despite the memory leak error.
Here are some tips if you’re experiencing crashes and/or other problems:
 1. Backup whatever you want to keep from your memory stick, format it, and start fresh. Download everything you need and pack that freshly formatted stick. Restore your save games and whatever else after the fact.
 2. Fiddle with hbl/hbl_config.txt. Try changing the different overrides and other configurable options.
 3. Clear out your ms0:/seplugins folder. Some plugins may be incompatible with 6.20 TN-A.
 4. Disable vMenu (VisualMenu) if you’re using it.
 5. Sift through the comments. You aren’t alone. Many users are reporting crashes but also reporting fixes/workarounds. Take your time and read on.
Update: By way of Wololo via virtuous flame — an unofficial fix for PSP-3000 owners. 6.20 TN-A doesn’t recognize newer PSP-3000 models (it’s a 4g vs. 3g thing); this EBOOT.PBP (you’re replacing HEN/EBOOT.PBP) corrects that.
Update: Comments indicate that homebrew is still likely to crash on some (newer 4g?) PSP-3000 models, that’s after using virtuous flame’s patched EBOOT. Hang tight — you know it’ll get fixed."

Android Exploits

Android is a mobile operating system, pretty much most of you guys are using phone with such operating system on it now days. People have been talking about how bad are micrcosoft product compare to open source software or operating system. But have they ever thought with open source market, people can create all kind of application free download.

“Android specialist Jon Oberheide demonstrated another hole which involved misusing the Account Manager to generate an authentication token for the Android Market and obtaining permission to install further apps from there. However, this initially requires a specially crafted app to be installed on the smartphone. Nothing could be easier: Oberheide released the allegedly harmless "Angry Birds Bonus Levels" app intothe Android Market and, upon installation, this app downloaded and installed three further apps ("Fake Toll Fraud", "Fake Contact Stealer" and "Fake Location Tracker") without requesting the user's permission.

The privileges of "Fake Tool Fraud" included the right to send premium SMS messages. Google has since removed all of Oberheide's apps from the Market. Back in June, Oberheide had already used an app to demonstrate an Android vulnerability. At the time, Google used the remote deletion feature, available on Android devices, for the first time. ” Read more…

Android is beginning to face what Microsoft have been facing all this while. But so far I have not seen any bad critics yet then again sooner or later maybe yes.

Wikipedia:
Android (operating system)
Android
is a mobile operating system initially developed by Android Inc., a firm purchased by Google in 2005.[4] Android is based upon a modified version of the Linux kernel. It is a participant in the Open Handset Alliance.[5] Unit sales for Android OS smartphones ranked first among all smartphone OS handsets sold in the U.S. in the second and third quarters of 2010,[6][7][8] with a third quarter market share of 43.6%.[9]

Android has a large community of developers writing application programs ("apps") that extend the functionality of the devices. There are currently over 100,000 apps available for Android.[10][11] Android Market is the online app store run by Google, though apps can be downloaded from third party sites (except on AT&T, which disallows this). Developers write in the Java language, controlling the device via Google-developed Java libraries.[12]

The unveiling of the Android distribution on 5 November 2007 was announced with the founding of the Open Handset Alliance, a consortium of 78 hardware, software, and telecom companies devoted to advancing open standards for mobile devices.[13][14] Google released most of the Android code under the Apache License, a free software and open source license.[15]

The Android operating system software stack consists of Java applications running on a Java based object oriented application framework on top of Java core libraries running on a Dalvik virtual machine featuring JIT compilation. Libraries written in C include the surface manager, OpenCore[16] media framework, SQLite relational database management system, OpenGL ES 2.0 3D graphics API, WebKit layout engine, SGL graphics engine, SSL, and Bionic libc. The Android operating system consists of 12 million lines of code including 3 million lines of XML, 2.8 million lines of C, 2.1 million lines of Java, and 1.75 million lines of C++.[17]

How to remove Facebook Application

I bet more then half of the Facebook user don’t know how to remove their application. So why would you want to remove it? For my case, getting like over 100 notification asking to accept gift from a application don’t really make me feel happy. Not to mention facebook remove the ignore all or cancel all from this application function. I remember there was such function but have no idea why did they remove it.

Anyway lucky for Facebook user there is a help Center button under account just somewhere on your upper right side of the facebook page. :

fbbz

So just click on Help Center then… you see all kind of stuff there just look for “Facebook Applications and Features" where on the next page you see less stuff. But you would notice the stuff you want is there “Adding, displaying, and removing applications". Removing application is the stuff you be looking for, but this is what they ask you to do:

How do I remove or delete an application from my account?

You can remove an application you have allowed from the Applications You Use page. To get to that page, follow these steps:

 1. Go to the Privacy Settings page from the "Account" drop-down menu located at the top of any page on Facebook.
 2. Click the "Edit your settings" link under the Applications and Websites section towards the bottom of the page.
 3. Click on the application you'd like to remove. If you don’t see the application listed, you can find it by clicking the Edit Settings button towards the top right-hand side of the page.
 4. You’ll then see an expanded view of your settings for that application. From here, you can click the "Remove application" link. Once you confirm you’d like to remove the application, it will no longer have access to your data and be removed from your profile, bookmarks, and your Applications and Games Dashboards.

Ok so WTF is all those complicated stuff, for real I don't really have a clue. A more easy way is just to click the link “Application you use” and on that page just click the “X” thing you see on the right side of each application and you get a box asking if you want to remove it just look at the step below:

accountfb
Click on the X button

removedcalculate
Click on the Remove Button

removesuda
There you go, the annoying applcation is REMOVED!!! Click Okay and continue on with the rest.

I have pretty much got annoyed with all the notifications as I could not even find the notification I saw from my email that require me to approve someone who was tagged on the picture I uploaded!!! I might accidently clicked no on the notification or reject.. what ever it is called and yes that.

The comments are not mine, they belong to the original poster of the dialogue.

<bitchchecker> what ping man
<bitchchecker> the timing of my pc is right
<bitchchecker> i even have dst

<HopperHunter|afk> LOL
<HopperHunter|afk> shit you’re stupid, DST^^

<Elch> You’re a real computer expert
<bitchchecker> shut up i hack you
<Elch> ok, i’m quiet, hope you don’t show us how good a hacker you are ^^
<bitchchecker> tell me your network number man then you’re dead
<Elch> Eh, it’s 129.0.0.1
<Elch> or maybe 127.0.0.1
<Elch> yes exactly that’s it: 127.0.0.1 I’m waiting for you great attack
<bitchchecker> in five minutes your hard drive is deleted
<Elch> Now I’m frightened
<bitchchecker> shut up you’ll be gone
<bitchchecker> i have a program where i enter your ip and you’re dead
<bitchchecker> say goodbye

<bitchchecker> buy buy
<Elch> I’m shivering thinking about such great Hack0rs like you
* bitchchecker (~java@euirc-61a2169c.dip.t-dialin.net) Quit (Ping timeout#)

What happened is clear: That guy entered his own IP-Adress in his mighty Hack-Tool and crashed his own PC. This way, the attack on my PC was a failure. I was already starting to think that I did not have to worry, but a good hacker never calls it a day. Two minutes later he returned.

quote:

* bitchchecker (~java@euirc-b5cd558e.dip.t-dialin.net) has joined #stopHipHop
<bitchchecker> dude be happy my pc crashed otherwise you’d be gone
<Metanot> lol
<Elch> bitchchecker: Then try hacking me again… I still have the same IP: 127.0.0.1
<bitchchecker> you’re so stupid man
<bitchchecker> say buy buy
<Metanot> ah, [Please control your cussing] off
<bitchchecker> buy buy elch
* bitchchecker (~java@euirc-b5cd558e.dip.t-dialin.net) Quit (Ping timeout#)

There was a tension in the room… Would he manage, after these two failures, to crash my PC? I waited. Nothing happened. I felt relieve… Six minutes passed by until he prepared the next wave of attack. Being a Hacker, who usually cracks whole data centers, he knew what his problem was now.

<bitchchecker> elch you son of a bitch

<bitchchecker> like a girl
<Metanot> firewall is normal a normal hacker has to be able to get past it…you girl^^

<bitchchecker> turn the firewall off then i send you a virus [Please control your cussing]er
<Elch> Noo
<Metanot> he bitchchecker why turn it off, you should turn it off
<bitchchecker> you’re afraid
<bitchchecker> i don’t wanna hack like this if he hides like a girl behind a fire wall
<bitchchecker> elch turn off your shit wall!
<Metanot> i wanted to say something about this, do you know the definition of hacking??? if he turns of the firewall that’s an invitation and that has nothing to do with hacking
<bitchchecker> shut up
<Metanot> lol
<bitchchecker> my grandma surfs with fire wall
<bitchchecker> and you suckers think you’re cool and don’t dare going into the internet without a fire wall

He calls me girly and says only his grandma would use a firewall. I know that elder people are much more intelligent then younger, but I couldn’t let that rest. To see whether he really is a good hacker I lie and let everything as it is. I don’t have a firewall at all, only my router.

quote:

<Elch> bitchchecker, a collegue showed me how to turn the firewall off. Now you can try again
<Metanot> bitchhacker can’t hack
<Black<TdV>> nice play on words ^^

<Elch> 127.0.0.1
<Elch> it’s easy
<bitchchecker> lolololol you so stupid man you’ll be gone
<bitchchecker> and are the first files being deleted
<Elch> mom…
<Elch> i’ll take a look

In panic I started the Windows Explorer, my heart beating faster. Had I under-estimated him?

quote:

<bitchchecker> don’t need to rescue you can’t son of a bitch
<Elch> that’s bad
<bitchchecker> elch you idiout your hard drive g: is deleted
<Elch> yes, there’s nothing i can do about it
<bitchchecker> and in 20 seconds f: is gone

Yes, true, G: and F: were gone. Did I ever have them? Doesn’t matter, I did not have time to think, I was scared. bitchchecker was comforting me with a music tip.

quote:

<bitchchecker> tupac rules
<bitchchecker> elch you son of a bitch your f: is gone and e: too

Drive E:? Oh my god… All the games are there! And the vacation pictures! I instantly take a look. Everything still there. But the hacker said it was deleted….

Or isn’t it happening on my computer?

quote:

<bitchchecker> and d: is at 45% you idiot lolololol
<He> why doesn’t meta say anything
<Elch> he’s probably rolling on the floor laughing
<Black<TdV>> ^^
<bitchchecker> your d: is gone
<He> go on BITCH

The guy is good: My CD-drive is allegedly deleted! Bitchchecker turned my ancient disk sucker into a burner! But how did he do this? I’ll have to ask him. Some encourage him. He himself is giving advice how to avoid the disaster on my hard drives.

quote:

<bitchchecker> elch man you’re so stupid never give your ip on the internet
<bitchchecker> i’m already at c: 30 percent

Should I tell him he’s not attacking my computer?

quote:

* bitchchecker (~java@euirc-9ff3c180.dip.t-dialin.net) Quit (Ping timeout#)

Too late… It’s 20:22 when we get the last message of our hacker with the alias “bitchchecker”. We see that he has a “Ping timeout”. We haven’t seen him since then… must be the Daylight Saving Time.

Aaaaaaaaah hahahahahaahahahaaa!!! Oh the endeavours of script kiddies. Got to love em.

So what is really a custom firmware? For those PSP owners out there if you own 1, it plays downloaded games or paid rm10 or so to install new games from a shop, you are using those custom firmware or hacked psp like everybody else is saying.

Wikipedia:

History of homebrew Soon after the PSP was released, hackers began to discover exploits in the PSP that could be used to run unsigned code on the device. Sony released version 1.51 of the PSP firmware in May 2005 to plug the holes that hackers were using to gain access to the device. On 15 June 2005 the hackers distributed the cracked code of the PSP on the internet. Hackers refused to apply updates which would render their hacks unusable so Sony attempted to convince users that there was a benefit to upgrading by including new features in the firmware updates, such as a web browser, and not just security patches to plug the vulnerabilities. BusinessWeek dubbed this the "carrot-and-stick" approach. In August 2005 Sony released version 2.0 of the firmware which included the web browser, file compatibility updates and other features. Hackers and other homebrew enthusiasts then encountered the first trojan for the PSP. Symantec called this trojan "Trojan.PSPBrick". Users attempting to downgrade their PSP using this software instead found that it was rendered inoperable as this software deleted important system files. Over the course of 2005 Sony released six different versions of the firmware and hackers typically responded to it by downgrading to avoid the new security updates. In Mid-2006, after several months of problems in defeating the PSP's firmware a file was posted online which allowed new PSPs running firmware version 2.6 to downgrade to 1.5 so they could then be hacked using older methods. This reportedly caused more buzz in the community than any recent official offerings for the device.
