Diabetes Vaccine Breakthrough

"We have identified one virus type that carries the biggest risk,” said professor Heikki Hyöty. ”A vaccine could also protect against its close relatives, to give the best possible effect.”
”We know that this vaccine is effective in mice,” noted Hyöty. ”It is important to test it in people, so that we can be sure that the vaccine prevents diabetes.”
Taking the vaccine through a clinical trial would cost some 700 million euros. Some funding is in place from the United States and from Europe, but more is required.
”Money is the biggest obstacle to testing in humans at the moment,” said Hyöty. ”The matter is of international interest, and people are interested in us. I’m optimistic that the funding will come.” Source: Yle
I guess those rich fatass Malaysian will now have less worries of getting diabetes since there be a vaccine soon. But like 700 million euros??? lol another Super class A project for UMNO if they invest as that is going to be about RM3,041,914,199.16 according to XE.com currentcy converter :D

Some cronies is going to get rich soon once they read about this news or find out lol

Wikipedia: Yle
Yleisradio (Finnish), also known as Rundradion (Swedish) or the Finnish Broadcasting Company (English), abbreviated to Yle (pronounced /yle/), is Finland's national public-broadcasting company, founded in 1926. Yleisradio's organisation shares many of the characteristics of its UK counterpart, the BBC, on which it was largely modelled. It employs around 3,200 people in Finland.

Facebook Home

Finally I get to install facebook home after reading the new from slashdot.org. Which seem much better then the standard Facebook App for Android devices (well just the new permissions to allow it to collect data about the apps you are running, other then that everything seems fine I think?). To get it all you need to do is go to this link:

(I can assure you this is not a virus)

Another way is to search for facebook on your google playstore and click on the link under What's new, there you will see the link is being posted.

So after clicking on that link which will open your Android device browser, it will open up your Google Playstore or there be a popup asking what to do so just choose google playstore.  I don't know why was it hidden from search, could have just been me but I don't know.

Then again this is what I got when it opened up on google playstore:

This item isn't available in your country.

So fuck you facebook.

What is Facebook Home?
Facebook Home is software for your phone designed to put your friends above everything else. You can download Facebook Home for free or purchase it pre-installed on a phone. Facebook Home works together with the Facebook for Android and Facebook Messenger apps to enable its main features:
  • Cover feed: Glance at your phone for photos and posts from your Facebook News Feed.
  • Chat heads: Send and receive texts and Facebook messages in one place. Open, close and drag chat heads around your screen to keep chatting while you’re using other apps.
  • Notifications: See news as it happens with bigger, bolder notifications on your home screen.
  • App launcher: Get right to your favorite apps and post to Facebook from the same place.

XDA Forum is moving away from GoDaddy

Majority mobile hacking geek would know what forum am I talking about, then again just for a short brief;

Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xda-developers
"xda-developers is a community of over 4 million users worldwide, started in 2003.[2] The site's main purpose is discussion of Windows Phone, Android, and WebOS phones. The site also offers Windows Mobile and Android users general information about devices, ROM upgrades, technical support, Q&A, and reviews of device applications and accessories”

Because of the recent activities from “Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA)” XDA communities have decided to move away from GoDaddy Hosting company. Go Daddy Group which fully support SOPA would put site like XDA at risk of being shut down or XDA would be forced to switch to a review system, where the forum moderators would have to inspect and approve every post on every sub-forum. XDA admins and moderator of XDA forum communities decided to go ahead with such plan after a long debate among themselves.

This is what they said:
"We had a long debate among admins and moderators about the best way XDA can combat this legislation. Several sites (most notably, Reddit) have decided to go dark on January 18th from 8AM to 8PM. A blackout of XDA, a site with users likely already educated on the legislation, seemed a bit like preaching to the choir.

Quite frankly, we don’t think a blackout is enough. We need to motivate XDA members to get involved and help us fight the fight. So– beginning at 8AM ET on January 18th, the xda-developers.com domain WILL go dark. When you come to the site, you will see links to information about SOPA and the damaging impact it will have on the free Internet. Visitors from the United States will also see a link to an online pledge. Users who choose to sign their name to the pledge are agreeing simply to contact their local Senator or Representative (via phone or email) and politely voice their opposition to the bills. Once 50,000 people have made the pledge, XDA will go back up. We will provide links to help you find the contact information for the appropriate member of Congress. We hope we hit 50,000 pledges quickly. If not, we’ll match Reddit (and hopefully many other sites) and return online at 8PM ET.”

For U.S citizen who wish to participate in the protest, you can head to Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF). EFF have created a page for how you can do your part to oppose this legislation that would allow the US to firewall content from their own citizens.

Extra details:
XDA to Go Dark on Jan 18th at 8AM; You Can Help Bring Us Back Online

Friendster has once again done it, they changed everything.. layout, framework, and the whole idea of how the Social network Boom. It may have been dead well for some part of the world, but majority of us started from there. But no.. friendster just did it again, they pissed off million of users and turned friendster into this:

fucktard

All the photos are gone, message as well, and they have claim to send notification and so on. I check my friendster mail every once a week, I check my friendster profile every week, and no I did not notice any news about saying everything be gone.

Majority Friendster user are complaining at their Facebook page,

complain

They claim to have said:

Friendster Team (Employee) No. We gave users months to save their profile and photos. Unfortunately, the deadline for that was last June 27.

Like this is so true? I never even notice that news of them saying everything be gone. I remember msn space gave me email, notification as I login into my old blog and even requested me to download all my old pictures. What did Friendster do? Nothing.

Kissing over the internet is possible?

This may sound like a joke but the University of Electro-Communications in Tokyo has made this possible by using a robotic tongue that lets you kiss people over the Internet.

“If you think the idea of french kissing someone over the internet with a robotic tongue is kind of gross, go outside and enjoy your afternoon. For those of you still sitting here, The University of Electro-Communications in Tokyo has just what you've been looking for. The Kiss Transmission Device is a motion-sensing receptacle that records your tongue's movements and then sends that information to a corresponding machine in your partner's mouth. From the article: "In addition to real-time smooching, the Kiss Transmission Device can be programmed to 'remember' specific rotations. The pre-recorded information can then be accessed by multiple recipients. According to the inventor, this could be a good way for celebrities to get closer to their fans." The University gave no word on the possibility of tentacles in future models.” Read more on Slash.dot..

Here is a video of how it works… well I don’t think I want to try or ever bother buying such device but then it might be a good tool to sell yourself online and let your client experience more.. lol

Then again.. would you actually use this device?

Pirated Android App Really Shameware - haha

“A pirated version of an Android app is actually a Trojan that "shames" someone who installs it by sending an SMS message to all his contacts telling them of his piracy.
The original app is called
Walk and Text, and costs $2.10 in the Android Market. The app uses the camera on the back of a smartphone to show a user a visual of his upcoming surroundings, which will supposedly prevent the user from running into the street or across a set of train tracks.” Read more...

I guess soon you see antivirus for android from AVG, Norton, & many more. This is becoming more like Microsoft but only thing is… it don’t cost much as microsoft? hehe.

Massive 8.9-magnitude quake hits Japan

Got this from CNN:

“Tokyo (CNN) -- An 8.9-magnitude earthquake hit northern Japan on Friday, triggering tsunamis and sending a massive body of water filled with debris that included boats and houses inching toward highways.

The epicenter was 373 kilometers (231 miles) away from the capital, Tokyo, the United States Geological Survey said. But residents there felt the tremors.

The quake rattled buildings and toppled cars off bridges and into waters underneath. Waves of debris flowed like lava across farmland, pushing boats, houses and trailers toward highways.

In Tokyo, crowds gathered in the streets and tried to reach relatives via cell phone.”

You can watch the video of the reporter speaking to each other but no visual of the situation there yet.

Gmail accidentally resetting accounts

Seems like a bug started to do some exploit of it owns in Gmail system. As many as 500,000 Gmail users lost access to their inboxes, I am not one of them after checking out on the gmail account. I have been using outlook for years now, which has downloaded all my gmail mails.

Slashdot.org - Gmail Accidentally Resets 150,000 Accounts
Many users have reported loss of their Gmail accounts, as they signed in to find their email accounts reset — losing years of email history. This appears to be a result of a bug which treats existing owners as new users. For those affected, Google is currently trying to resolve the problem. For the rest of us, perhaps this is a timely reminder to backup our data and be less trusting of the cloud.”

Update: No fix yet, but Google's revised its estimate as to how many users might have been affected by the issue -- "less than 0.08%" -- which means we're probably looking at closer to 150,000 individuals, rather than 500,000. We're assuming that the revised estimate means that the initial count wasn't precise, and not that customers are ditching Gmail in droves.

Update 2: Google's provided promising but terribly vague guidance on when the situation will be resolved: "Google Mail service has already been restored for some users, and we expect a resolution for all users in the near future. Please note this time frame is an estimate and may change."

Xperia PLAY official video

Here is a brief clip about how the new Xperia Play will look and feel like.

Can I have the girl? lol

“The Sony Ericsson XPERIA Play packs a 4" FWVGA (that's 480 x 854 pixels) display and runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread (with a customized UI aimed at gaming).

As expected, the XPERIA Play has slide-out game controls and also a touch-sensitive areas. The CPU is a 1GHz Snapdragon. The Play packs a latest Adreno GPU, which will provide 60fps gameplay in 3D games.

The Play measures 119x62x16mm and weighs 175 grams. It features a 5MP camera and has an 8GB microSD card in the box.”  Read more on Gsmarena.com

So it looks like a gadget to have, but from all my Sony Ericsson experience. I would rather wait first before even buying 1 now from them. Just like majority Sony Ericsson user, the device always have either 1 out of the two problem which is Software or Hardware. The list of possibility which might cause problem are like the gaming joystick? Those Xperia 1 owners would know, I never open up my keyboard or use it before at all. It is much better to install a third party software for you to use the touchscreen and type the word you want.

As for the specs it does look fantastic like 1ghz with android? that is like running a Ubuntu or windows xp on one of those I7 Processor desktop pc. You feel so much difference from running windows vista and xp, that kind of feeling (if you are a i.t person you would understand what I am talking about).

For the price, someone said it is going to be around $200-$250 (saw this on the comment of gsmarena), so that be like MYR763+ which affordable maybe. Much better then the time I bought my phone which cost RM1,200.00 ap set. Anyway that is just someone commenting, the price may be higher then what I think. Well which company don’t want to make money? lol

Apple's iPhone 5 will be powered by a dual core processor with SGX543 graphics

Seems like this Iphone is going to be so powerful that you practically can do anything with it soon. Maybe run pc based software or game too?

Apple Daily, ,a Hong Kong based newspaper, reported that Apple's iPhone 5 will be powered by a dual core processor with SGX543 graphics. It is reported that Apple is in contact with a Taiwanese component maker for the A8 SoC. Currently Apple uses a custom made A4 SoC in its iPad and iPhone 4 and uses SGX535 graphics and video support.” Read More...

Well most of the smart phone are having processor that is much faster then my old P3 mobo (Died last month). Back then I was trying to imagine how are they going to fit in a processor on a mobile phone, but with new technology it is possible to have a processor faster then your pc on the mobile. But one thing for sure I am not going to spend thousand on a small device, I would choose a laptop still or desktop lol

Wireless Graphic Card

I guess pretty much now days hardware are going wireless too. Well wireless but still limited such as transmitting power over air? well not to that stage yet. But Nvidia has started making graphic cards card with no display outputs. So no more output means no more cables needed to connect with your lcd and less the hassle to arrange those cables.

It is called Galaxy sub-brand KFA2, whats with the 2? no idea but the KFA2 GTX 460 WHDI uses a wireless link to send the display output from your PC to your screen. The guys from bit-tech has the full review:

kfa2-gtx-460-whdi-1280x1024

“Galaxy sub-brand KFA2 has announced a graphics card with no display outputs. Instead, the KFA2 GTX 460 WHDI uses a wireless link to send the display output from your PC to your screen – whether that’s a conventional monitor or the HD TV in your lounge.
You just need to attach the bundled receiver to the back of your chosen screen and you’re done. With a
wireless keyboard and mouse, you could place your PC at the other end of the room, letting you crank up those fans without having to listen to the whirring next to you.
The ‘WHDI’ part of the card’s name comes from the fact that it uses Amimon’s wireless technology – WHDI stands for Wireless Home Digital Interface.
The standard uses the 40MHz channel of the unlicensed 5GHz radio frequency band to deliver uncompressed 1080p video at 60Hz wirelessly. The card uses five aerials, which KFA2 says will provide ‘the most robust and highest quality HD wireless connection for in-room and multi-room applications.
WHDI has a range of 30m (around 100ft for those still working in Imperial), and can work through obstacles and walls. This, says KFA2, provides a ‘hassle-free way to connect sources anywhere within a room or enable multiple connections.’ The WHDI standard supports HDCP 2.0, so it can route protected content (Blu-ray films, for example) without a problem.”

It is a GeForce GTX 460 with 1GB and also support Nvidia’s PhysX & CUDA technologies. Plus it uses DirectX 11!!! running at 675mhz with 336 stream processor operating at twice from that rate. The 1GB GDDR5 runs at 900MHz.

This cards be for sale soon around Europe first, not sure about the asia country yet. But it has a 2 years warranty!!! I guess they really have high expectation from this card.
